Legendary Classic Car Fan Spotlight: Third Edition

We’re back with another round of Legendary Classic Car Stories! This month, we have three more stories submitted by our amazing Legendary Auto Interiors fans. Read on to find out more about their unique classic car restoration journeys.

A Perfectly Preserved Pontiac

1965 Pontiac Lemans Seats Name: Rich Markoski Year / Make / Model: 1965 Pontiac Lemans How long have you had your classic car? 5 years Why did you choose this particular car? I was looking for a 1965 Pontiac A-body, but it had to have factory air. I found this one in Florida, and the metal was in excellent condition, and the original drivetrain was gone, so I could do pretty much what I wanted with it without ruining a numbers matching car. Where is your favorite place to show off your classic car? Ames Pontiac Tri-power Nationals is by far my favorite, along with the GTOAA convention and some of our local cruise nights. Any recent or upcoming classic car restoration projects you'd like to share? I will soon be picking up a numbers matching 1965 Pontiac GTO, which will be treated to a full frame off restoration, going back to as built condition with a couple of subtle exceptions. Of course, the interior will be coming from Legendary on this one, too. Anything else you want us to know about your classic car? The previous owner had started to clone my Lemans to a GTO. I actually put the car back to a Lemans because let's face it - how often do you actually see one? Being that the original drivetrain was gone, I took some license to build what I wanted. The car was built to look like a 326 H.O. car, but actually has a 389 with a 200R4 transmission. Several people have thought that it was a 326 H.O. car, so mission accomplished. I wanted the car to appear as factory as possible as far as colors, options, and build, but hide a few subtle upgrades in plain sight. Could you tell us about your Legendary experience? Legendary is as close to the factory as you can find in appearance, quality and—most importantly to me—durability. This Pontiac is my second one with a Legendary interior for me, and after my past experience with the other guys, Legendary is the only option for me. I used as many Legendary products as I could get for the car, including seat covers, door panels, headliner, package tray, and insulation too. Thank you for a great product at a reasonable price.

A Gift for Dad

1971 Buick GS 455 Interior Name: Antonio R Spagnoli Year / Make / Model: 1971 / Buick / GS 455 How long have you had your classic car? Just over 1 year Why did you choose this particular car? My dad's first car in 1975 was a 1971 Buick GS Stage 1. He's always talked about how fast and awesome that car was. I've always wanted to surprise him with buying one, and I did in September 2020. Where is your favorite place to show off your classic car? Any local car show or cruise-in. Any recent or upcoming classic car restoration projects you'd like to share? This year I replaced the passenger inner fender well and the radiator core support. Since I had the entire front end of the car apart, I took the opportunity to detail the engine compartment. Now that the front end is assembled back together, the engine compartment looks brand new. Next year, I will focus on enhancing the exterior paint by wet sanding and buffing to a mirror shine. Anything else you want us to know about your classic car? I bought it from a guy in Pennsylvania who started the restoration project but gave up in the middle of it. He had it painted & clear coated, but not wet sanded. He put in new door panels and bought new seat covers. He also had the rear bumper re-chromed. When I got the car, the body was intact but everything else was in pieces. I had to get the trunk pans fixed and the trunk repainted. I tore the dash apart this year and repainted the dash & dash pad, as well as replaced all the gauges and gauge bezel. All in all, this car has done a complete 180 since I bought it a year ago. Could you tell us about your Legendary experience? Every time I dealt with Legendary Auto, it was a smooth and painless experience. First Car Found Again

1968 Oldsmobile 442 W30 Name: Billy Davis Year / Make / Model: 1968 Oldsmobile 442 W30 How long have you had your classic car? 3 Years Why did you choose this particular car? This model was my first car in 1981. Where is your favorite place to show off your classic car? Car shows on Long Island. Any recent or upcoming classic car restoration projects you'd like to share? I'm always watching the aftermarket and OEM parts catalogs for things to make my car as close to original as possible. Keeping one car looking like it came out of the showroom is a constant restoration. Anything else you want us to know about your classic car? The 442 restoration has been a project that my girlfriend and I have worked together on, putting in a lot of research, getting to know other 1968 442 owners, and going to car shows. It's been so much fun for both of us and we continue to enjoy it. Could you tell us about your Legendary experience? When we decided we wanted to upgrade our 68 442 interior, our extensive research found that Legendary Auto Interiors was the best. So we decided to order a complete interior of seat covers and door panels. I like the fact that Legendary supplies all the OEM style materials for the seats like burlap, cotton batting, paper-coated listing wire and exact replications of the seat designs. I had never done interior work before, but with some studying of Legendary's video tutorials, I took on the task. I have to say they came out great. I get compliments at every car show and tell them Legendary is the way to go.
